We seek a Conference Planning Fellow for the 2024 event. The role involves managing logistics, communications, and program development, requiring motivation, independence, and a commitment to D4BL’s mission. This part-time position offers a stipend and candidate must be based in Miami, FL.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, works well independently, anticipates issues before they arise, and possesses a shared commitment to our mission. Applicants should be available to work 10-15 hours a week. A stipend will be provided.

Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis. Application closes: August 31, 2024

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing project assistance such as maintaining task tracker, scheduling meetings (internal/external), and summarizing action items
  • Support with the curation of moderated panels, workshops, and pre-conference sessions
  • Liaising with staff at the venue(s) to coordinate logistics and planning for conference; specific focus on concert, social events, workshops, and opportunity expo
  • Drafting and sending correspondence to our partners, speakers/panelists, and supporting general communications and media efforts
  • Support conference marketing strategies, content calendar, and promotional materials. Including conference app
  • Coordinating event registration outcomes related to accommodations, travel, and speaker/panelists/attendee confirmations
  • Recruit and manage volunteers and volunteer captains

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Strong interest in data science, public engagement, and/or issues of equity and racial justice
  • Must be detail-oriented, flexible, able to multitask, work collaboratively, meet deadlines, think critically and creatively
  • Previous meeting or event planning experience is a plus
  • Social media/online engagement and design experience preferred
  • Strong academic background, writing, and communication skills
  • Experience in production and logistics
